Mike's
rich heritage of farming and ranching helps him connect with a
wide variety of people. He has the western spirit in his soul
and longs for the days of old when all work was done from the
back of a horse. He still says even at the age of 56. "When I
grow up I want to be a cowboy". Though he would rather be on a
ranch living the cowboy lifestyle he knows that is not God's
plan for him right now. Although Mike says there is always hope,
and hope turns into faith, and he has faith someday he will be
back in the saddle again.
Mike is a member of Grace United Methodist Church in Olathe, Ks.
He is a Certified Lay Speaker for the East Conference in the
Kansas City District. He is in the Ministry Process of the
Course of Study to be a licensed Local Pastor. A member of the
United Methodist Men. He is a member of The Christian Country
Music Association ( CCMA ), BMI Publishing, The Academy of
Western Artists (AMA ), The C.O.W.B.O.Y. Society ( Cock-eyed Old
West Band Of Yahoos), The 87th Infantry Division Association and
the American Quarter Horse Association. Mike has signed a
contract with Higgins Music Group (HMG), Nashville TN, who is
releasing a single off his CD "I Ride for the Brand", to radio
stations nation wide in July.
Michael or Mike was born Nov. 10, 1947 in Enid, Okla. Grew up in
Sumner Co. Ks. Graduated from South Haven High School. Attended
Arkansas City Community Jr. College on a football Scholarship
and graduated with an Associate Arts Degree, attended Wichita
State University.

his high school sweetheart, and has been married for 36 yrs to
Sandy. Has a Daughter Dawn who is married to Kirk Howell and
rancher/farmer. They have 7 children. Justin his son is a
Railroad Engineer like his Dad and plays a mean set of drums. He
and his wife Jodi have 2 children and one on the way. Mike grew
up on a farm/ranch operation and comes from a long line of
rancher, farmer, stockmen, rodeo performers, horsemen,
muleskinners and cattle traders. He has ran his own cattle,
horse, and farm operation. Trained horses for ranch use and even
trained a few running quarter horses. Has showed cutting horses
against some of the best in the cutting world. Had his own
horseshoeing business for 15 years. Has worked on some big
ranches in OK, and KS. as a day worker and even tried his hand
at ranch rodeos. His dad bought him his first guitar when he was
14. Played in bands during high school and college for extra
money. Got out of music for about 25 years.
In February of 1999 after 30 years of heavy social drinking,
poor choices, bad decisions and lots of traveled rocky roads,
and a fight in a Texas bar. Michael Gracy fell to his knees and
in one simple prayer that God answered he ended up in a 30
day alcohol treatment facility. Now five years later he has a
full time Cowboy Music Ministry, and is trying to make a
difference by helping other hard living unchurched members of
society to avoid the rocky roads he traveled. He feels if we
could accept the spirituality of religion and forget about
living up to the letter of religious law that we wouldn't need
to use artificial means to feel good about ourselves and to
escape life's problems. His music is his testimony, and tries to
live is life as an example. Sort of a Living Sermon ya might
say. He says "Ya never know we just might be the only
sermon someone sees." He started
singing and playing his guitar in church. At the request of his
pastor he started writing his own songs. The pastor told him he
had a style all of his own and needed to write his own songs and
tell about how God has Graced his life. So for the first time in
a long time he took some advice, and after many a rough traveled
road he has turned his life into a full time Music Ministry. He
holds Cowboy Church Services in small communities across OK, KS,
New Mexico, TX, Missouri, and TN, says he's even been asked back
to several places!!! Mike says "I want to make a difference in
the world we live in to spread the Grace of God and the Love of
Jesus Christ, and maybe I can help some ole cowboy avoid some of
the trails I went down to get back into a relationship with God.
I just want to leave this ole world in better shape than what I
found it in."
What people are saying about Michael Gracy:
Tony Horsley, Pastor: United Methodist Churches of Burdett and
Rozel, KS.
“Mike Gracy's testimony from a Christian home to the brink of
total loss and defeat to victory through God's grace, is a
living monument to God's grace and transforming power. Mike's
music is from his heart. His words are from a personal journey
down "rocky roads" until his acceptance of God's love put him on
the "Red Sea Road". Mike will cause your funny bone to vibrate
with laughter then move you to an ache as you journey with him
as he struggles to find elusive answers, then your spirit will
swell to bursting as you share his victory through Christ Jesus.
I know of no one but Mike Gracy whose story will carry you
through such a vivid journey climaxing in revealing his NEW LIFE
in CHRIST!!! Mike's music is heart-bom and heart stirring—His
story inspiring! His life is a joy. Once you have met Mike and
his awesome wife. Sandy, and experienced his message in music
and word- You Will NEVER EVER be the Same.”
Lee Domann: Singer/songwriter/Christian Entertainer, Nashville,
